South Carolina Council of the IEEE
The
South Carolina Council of the IEEE was formed in February 1972 and consists
of four sections:
- Central Savannah
River Section
- Coastal Carolina
Section
- Columbia Section
- Piedmont Section
The total membership
of the IEEE in South Carolina is over 1400 members.
The Council is a subordinate
committee of the Sections and is formed to do those tasks that can be
best done together by all Sections rather than each Section working singly.
Major Activities for
the South Carolina Council include:
- Student Paper Contest
in the spring each year.
- Award for Outstanding
Engineering Educator (Lathrop Award)
- Award for Outstanding
Engineer (Smith Award)
- Award for Outstanding
Industry (Biedenbach Award)
- Represent IEEE
at the South Carolina Council of Engineering & Surveying Societies
