Minutes from EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING 04 MAY, 2003

The meeting convened at 4:30
p.m. at Zorba's restaurant. The attendees were Steve Carroll, Marilene
Guardia-Baker, Dick Riddle, Allen Thomas, and Brent Baker.
MEETING SCHEDULE
Council meetings are open to all IEEE members. At a minimum, Council Officers
and Section Chairs are expected. If you cannot attend, please send me
your updates. Section Chairs may send an alternate attendee. Please make
announcement of these meetings in your local section and chapter meetings
and newsletters. The next meeting is:
August 19 @ 7:30 p.m. via e-conference
OLD BUSINESS
· - John Montague accepted treasurer duties - a balance of $5165.29
is shown in the bank account
· - $850.00 was spent on sending a student from Clemson to SoutheastCon
2003 - check has been sent reimbursing Piedmont section
· - Bylaws have been sent for approval
· - Lee Stogner attended PACE conference to represent the Council
- Steve C. attended to represent the Columbia Section
· - Marilene is still working on recruiting volunteers for the
Coastal section
NEW BUSINESS
· - Allen Thomas approved accepting minutes (Steve Carroll second)
for 2/12/03 meeting via e-conference
· - The idea of submitting a budget was brought up to show how
money should be put aside each year for student awards (paper contests),
joint council expenses (SCCES), etc.
· - Updating Excom information was brought up; Marilene suggested
utilizing a private roster for personal information and a public roster
for e-mail only (she would contact Dave Green concerning this)
·- Dick Riddle talked about SoutheastCon 2003: 450 total attendants
with 27 universities represented - SECon 2004 has been set for Greensboro,
NC 3/26-3/28
· - A deadline of 11/1 has been set for Council awards nominations
· - Next meeting set for 8/19 at 7:30 p.m. via e-conference; next
face-to-face meeting set for 11/9 @ 4:30 p.m. at Zorba's
