section and chapter meetings and newsletters. The next meeting is:

FINANCIAL
Balance - unknown as of January 17. It is assumed that the Council

the 2001 dues. The recently paid dues were for the 2000 fiscal year.
Central Savannah is expected to pay their Council dues for the past
two years.
BYLAWS
The proposed bylaws have been posted on the Council web site. On
the main page for the Council, click Bylaws, then "Click here
for proposed bylaws". The Columbia Section has approved the
bylaws- still waiting on word from other sections. As sections vote
on the proposed bylaws, the vote results need to be sent to Brent
Baker.
AWARDS
No awards nominations have been received.
STUDENT PAPER CONTEST
A tentative date of March 9 has been selected to hold the student
paper contest provided that USC has any entries(only entries so
far are from Clemson). The Council has set a date of February 25
as a deadline for when student papers need to be ready - if not,
the contest will be cancelled for this year.

of the January 7 SoutheastCon committee meeting as well as the following:

- the $5000 pledged plus an additional $4000 has been received since
then
· Student activities were going well
Marilene has planned to attend the next SCCESS meeting to be held
in Columbia on February 26 at 3:30p.m.

more detail at the next meeting
