Student Judges and Prizes - Howard Moses, Ira Jacobs Judges will be selected from outside academia $750 total in prizes (from "Student Activities" category in budget) 6 papers: 1 first place ($225), 2 second place ($150 ea.), and 3 third place ($75 ea.) Prize expenditures and allowance of judges' discretion in awards approved Committee Chairs, including Student Activities Chair, in need of review Chapter Activities - Howard Moses Industry Applications (Cy) - needs two meeting Industrial Electronics/Computer/Control Systems (Dave G.) - looking for 2 spring meetings LEOS (Ira) - coming along well Microwave (Dam) - no news All chapters are requested to advertise meetings in the newsletter VA Council Report - Dave Geer Richmond Section needs a chair - reactivation in progress Boy Scout Jamboree was very successful Section Congress - Dan Jackson Triennial affair (once every 3 years) 2002 meeting (October 18-21, 2002 - Washington DC) targeted for the incoming chair for 2003 - action: Mark, Shawn Funds have been budgeted; region to assist with expenses Region 3 Activities - Dan Jackson Recommend pursuing Exemplary Section Award - action: Dan, Dave K. VA Council is in need of an Education Chair - Russell Churchill now serves as VA Council Education Chair and Education Committee Chair - more to be discussed in Feb.
