The presentation will compare and contrast modern LED technology
with major categories of evacuated tube technologies. The
presenter will analyze evolving techniques in the design
and development of SSL luminaires. Don will discuss the
recent Advances in LED component technology and compare
categories or types of LED components. IES CEUs and AIA
LUs are available for this presentation.
Donald G. Hirsh
Hirsh is Senior Manager of Cree's Durham Lighting Experience
Center, which showcases Cree's LED technology, lamps and
luminaires in a unique variety of spaces and applications.
From interactive learning kiosks to virtual desktop design,
to an interactive compare space, the Durham LEC immerses
visitors in Cree's industry leading LED lighting performance.
to his work in the Lighting Business Unit, Don was a Product
Marketing Manager in Cree's LED Components Business Unit
and also Business Development Manager at Bright View Technologies,
a supplier of optical films for display and illumination
industries. An inveterate technologist, over the past three
decades he has been involved with businesses in solid state
lighting, illumination and display systems/subsystems, photonics
and data communications, communication semi-conductors,
as well as application and systems software.
has a BA in Math from Washington University in St. Louis
and began his career as a classical guitarist, performing
in the Midwest and teaching at Webster University and the
St. Louis Conservatory of Music and Schools for the Arts.
