Juan-Carlos Gaillard of Corning Cable Systems

Juan-Carlos Gaillard graduated in June 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Tech (Florida Institute of Technology). Prior to his career at Corning, He worked as an Assistant Engineer at Telecine CATV in La Paz, Bolivia; as a Project Engineer at Tampa Power Co. Tampa, FL; as a Sales Associate, Electric Avenue Montgomery Ward, Melbourne, FL; and then as a Project Engineer/Assist. Project Manager at Tri-City Electrical Contractors, Inc. Tampa, FL.

Juan-Carlos started his career with Corning as a Field Engineer in June 1997 through February 2000.  He transitioned to a Systems Engineering role in March 2000 through March 2003. He then took the role of Senior Systems Engineer / Senior FTTX System Designer in March 2003 through September 2005. In September 2005 he became the Private Networks Sales Engineer for the Rocky Mountain territory, covering the states of CO, UT, WY, MT and ID. In Dec 2010 he transitioned to continue being a Private Networks Senior Sales Engineer for Southern VA out of Richmond, VA.

During his career Juan-Carlos has taken the following additional training: Wireless Telecommunication Networks BICSI; Local Area Networks and LAN Cabling Systems BICSI; Hands-on Fiber Optic Installation for Outside and Inside Plant Applications SIECOR;  Passive Fiber Optic System Design for Local Area Networks SIECOR; Effective Negotiating Karrass Programs; CATV Design Basics Motorola; Understanding Networking Fundamentals Global Knowledge; Pro-Active Selling, M3 Learning Advanced Sales School.

Basic Fiber 101 - Basic fiber optic fundamentals.

The Virginia Mountain Section (VMS) of the IEEE has been serving members in the Southwest corner of the Commonwealth of Virginia since 1949.

We currently have two Student Branches in local universities and colleges:

  • Virginia Military Institute
  • Virginia Tech
and the VMS Consultants Network Affinity Group.

The purpose of this Affinity Group is to share information concerning consulting opportunities, and to make a list of consultants and their areas of expertise available to potential employers.
