Communcations Society and AES Society Chapter Home Page

Welcome

Welcome to the Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the IEEE Communcations Society and the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society Chapter. We are a joint local chapter of two societies: the IEEE Communcations Society, and the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society. The Communations Society is a community comprised of a diverse group of industry professionals with a common interest in advancing all communications technologies. The AES Society is concerned with the organization, design, development, integration, and operation of complex systems for space, air, ocean or ground environments. These systems include but are not limited to navigation, avionics, mobile electric power and electronics, radar, sonar, telemetry, military, law-enforcement, automatic test, simulators, and command and control. Many AES Society members are concerned with the practice of systems engineering. We host technical meetings of interest to local management and technical professionals. These are two of several dozen IEEE societies.

IEEE WCET Certification Program

WCET stands for Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies . With the IEEE WCET certification, professionals will be able to clearly demonstrate their knowledge of wireless communication technologies to employers or change engineering fields as new opportunities arise in the wireless industry.

Vendor-neutral and trans-national in scope, the IEEE WCET certification program's focus is explicitly on the knowledge and on-the-job experience that a practicing wireless communications professional needs to possess in order to pass the WCET exam. Nothing testifies more to the international nature of the program than the breadth of industry participation at all stages of the development process.

About Us

We are a local IEEE Technical Society Chapter. We are part of the local Southeastern Michigan Section. The Section is a geographic entity, not a technical entity. Our Chapter and Section reside in the same Southeastern Michigan geographic area. See the further description on our About Us page.

Benefits / Membership / Join

IEEE has many, many, member benefits. See the IEEE web page and our membership page.

Eligible professionals may join IEEE as full members. You don't need to be a manager to join. Others may join as associate members. Professionals that want to only join the Aerospace and Electonic Systems Society or the Communcations Society may join as affiliate members (but understand that you don't get the benefits of being an IEEE member). Eligible undergraduate students may join as student members. Graduate students join as graduate student members. See IEEE membership.

As a member of IEEE, you are eligible for especially negotiated rates on personal insurance, insurance for your business, credit cards and financial services, as well as on products and services for your home and office through the Financial Advantage Program. Availability of programs varies by Region and State. Active IEEE membership is a requirement for participation.

Volunteer

Your investment in your career and your IEEE membership can be greatly increased by volunteering. You will gain personal as well as professional rewards. See our information on volunteering and get involved.
