TMC Chapter Home Page

Welcome

Welcome to the Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the IEEE Technology Management Council. We are a local chapter of the IEEE Technology Management Council. The Society is concerned with overseeing the management of engineering and technology. We host technical meetings of interest to local management and technical professionals. This one of several dozen IEEE societies.

Mission

Our Chapter Mission is to help each other obtain the most out of our Society membership and contribute to our continuing management education.

We support the Mission of our Section : To inspire, enable, empower, and engage members for the purpose of fulfilling the mission of IEEE, enhancing the member's growth and development throughout their life cycle, and providing a profssional home.

Vision

Our chapter vision is to be a community that influences local management practices.

Values

Our values are:

  • We value quality presentations and quality technical material over quantity. We would rather present one or two great presentations per year than four or five mediocre ones.
  • We value putting theory into practice: "There is nothing more practical than a good theory," -- Kurt Lewin.
  • We value building on the knowledge and experience of the past. We encourage our members to read foundational material, such as: Harry Levinson, "Asinine Attitudes Toward Motivation", Harvard Business Review, Jan 1, 1973; and Stephen Covey, "Seven Habits." Too often, managers confuse "ruling" with "leading".
  • We value inclusion and participation by all members. The only thing we need to exclude is ... exclusion itself!
  • We value professionalism and helping our members be more professional.

Communications

We send a monthly email newsletter to everyone on our email list. TO subscribe or unsubscribe, visit http://ewh.ieee.org/enotice/options.php?LN=semichigan-chapter10 or read more about the list on the listserv page at http://ewh.ieee.org/r4/se_michigan/ems/listserv.html
