Power Engineering Society [for more information]

Topic: Load Shedding Schemes 

Mr. Dalke will be discussing load shedding and its use as a tool to prevent or reduce the impact of power system disturbances that can lead to blackout.  His presentation will include example of using frequency based load shedding which was implemented on the USA power grid after the blackouts of November 9, 1965 and what we might expect in the way of new methods of load shedding due to the blackouts of August 14, 2003. 

Mr. Dalke will also present a short overview of the equipment being manufactured at the Basler Taylor Texas factory.  This factory began operations in June 2003.
