Charles Lefurgy is a Research Staff Member at the IBM Austin Research Laboratory. His current research work focuses on power management for servers and data centers. He contributed to the power management firmware in POWER6 and POWER7 servers and the IBM Active Energy Manager product used to monitor data center power. Prior to joining IBM, he received BSE, MSE, and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Michigan. He holds 16 U.S. patents related to power management and has authored 23 refereed technical publications on topics including power management, code compression, and high performance computing. He is a senior member of the ACM and IEEE.
