Talk Abstract:
Cyber attacks against corporations and government occur constantly. Many of the organizations believe that their sites are secured. Some to their ultimate detriment. Web applications remain a leading issue. According to Ponemon Institute, 80% of successful attacks target the application layer. The number and costs of breaches continue to rise. The presentation presents a brief historic overview and then will examine next generation cyber threats and advance Persistent threats and provide some recommendation at the end.

Speaker Profile:
John recently co-authored Cyber Crime and Espionage published in Feb 2011 and has more than 15 years of security experience in security research, worldwide product management, development, marketing, testing, forensics, APT's and critical infrastructure architecting and deployment. John has worked for the Central Intelligence Agency in Cyber Security, CTO at CSG LTD, Product Manager at Cisco, Product Line Executive for all security products at IBM Internet Security Systems, Director at McAfee's Network Defense Business Unit and currently at HP TippingPoint leading the strategy for their next generation security platform. In addition to a BBA from the University of Texas, John also holds the NSA-IAM and CEH certifications. John has been named security thought leader from SANS Institute and speaks at top tier security conferences worldwide. John W.
