| Position: |
Manager, Reliability Physics |
| Post Date: |
October 13, 2009 |
| Description: |
Responsible for identification of potential field failure modes in collaboration with the Quality and Reliability (Q&R) team. Responsible for the assessment of the physics of these failure modes and establishment of the governing failure mechanisms and the factors that accelerate them. Work with Q&R to develop and improve tests to quantify the failure in time impact of these failure mechanisms, and release these tests to Q&R. Collaborate with other teams to improve process control and reduce failure rate in the field.
|
| Responsibilities: |
- Provides a hands on technical expertise and leadership for reliability improvement working groups in the area of failure mechanisms, reliability failures characterization, acceleration of failures.
- Hire a group of reliability engineers/scientists professionals that will assist in providing this expertise to the reliability improvement working groups.
- Lead this team that will serve as a center of excellence in failure mechanisms to identify highest impact failure modes, establish their failure mechanisms, quantify failure in time impact and tighten process control to reduce failure in time impact of these modes.
- Technically lead the development of quantitative ALT procedures for the important failure mechanisms.
- The role requires strong technical skills in the area of failure mechanisms as well as strong people skills and capability of managing processes through influence.
- The role involves work in multi-functional teams as well as at times leadership of such multi-functional teams – both technical and operational.
|
| Qualifications: |
- 10 years experience in reliability research and engineering with exposure to high volume manufacturing.
- Required experience in Semiconductor, Flat Panel Display (FPD) or hard drive packaging reliability and failure mechanism analysis.
- 5 years of management in the area of reliability engineering or reliability research in the areas of semiconductor, FPD hard drive packaging, aerospace or military.
- Ability to apply experimental techniques.
- Extensive experience in participation and leadership of multi-functional problem working groups.
- Strong communication skills.
