This chapter is part of the IEEE Women in Engineering organization. The Central Texas Section Women in Engineering Chapter became official as of August 13, 2002, when the Section Summer Planning Meeting the Section signed paperwork supporting the formulation of an IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Chapter in our Section. During the first three years, most chapter activities occurred in Austin. Starting in 2006, a new branch of the CenTex chapter of WIE became active in San Antonio.

Participation in meetings is open. Both women and men are encouraged to participate. The focus is to serve the membership through stimulating further involvement with IEEE and providing opportunities for professional development and networking. We have significant representation from industry, academia, and other career ventures that encompass interest in the IEEE.
