During the Texas Symposium on Software Engineering on August 28th, there will be a Student Poster Competition, with prizes sponsored by the Central Texas chapter of IEEE Women in Engineering:
Who is eligible?
The TSSE Student Poster Competition is open to all full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students. The Competition is intended to allow students to share research results related to software engineering, exchange ideas, gain insights, understand practical applications of their research, perfect their communications skills, and meet conference attendees from academia and industry. Students may work individually or in groups. Groups may consist of all undergraduate students, all graduate students, or a combination.
|
Poster content
Posters should address topics related to the theme of the conference, "Successes, Failures, and Lessons Learned". Some ideas for topics:
- A case study focusing on the software development processes followed at one or more companies.
- A meta-analysis of published research related to software or system design practices.
- Experimental comparison of the effectiveness of debugging versus systematic testing to discover defects in a small software program.
- A comparison of development using agile methods to development using more traditional software engineering approaches.
- An analysis of the influence of team organization on the process followed by student software engineering teams.
Posters will be judged for technical merit, creativity, effectiveness of visual presentation, and quality of oral presentation.

Poster display during conference
On Saturday, August 28th, posters will be set up in meeting rooms at the conference site. During specified portions of the day, the author(s) of a poster will be expected to be available near their poster to explain the work and respond to visitors' questions.

Judging
Symposium attendees will serve as the judging panel. Each attendee at the Symposium will receive a numbered ballot. These ballots will be submitted and tallied after the poster session ends. The top three winners will receive prizes for $500, $300, and $200, respectively, sponsored by the Central Texas chapter of IEEE Women in Engineering. Announcement of the winners will occur at the end of the closing keynote session.
