Topic: Texas Conference for Women
Abstract -- The Texas Conference on Women, held at Austin's Convention Center, is a multi-faceted conference that attracts participants from all walks of life. The keynote speakers for the 2007 conference include Elizabeth Vargas, an award-winning anchor and correspondent, Carly Fiorina, the former chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard, and Mary Wilson of the Supremes.
A key feature of this conference is the extensive and varied exhibits area. The Central Texas Section of IEEE Women In Engineering is scheduled to sponsor a booth in the Exhibits Area at this year's conference. The booth will be served by volunteers from several local IEEE chapters, including Women in Computing, the Engineering Management Society, and the Electron Device Chapter.
We encourage IEEE members, women in particular, to consider attending this conference. We welcome additional volunteers to help at the IEEE booth, where we will be handing out brochures and other IEEE promotional materials, as well as answering questions.
The Texas Conference for Women includes a scholarship program, which awards six $5,000 scholarships in the areas of business, education, math and science, arts, public service, and nursing. Applicants must be women currently enrolled in an accredited Texas institution of higher learning.
