Northern Colorado's Economic Outlook... and How It Might Affect You

DIRECTIONS

From I-25, take Harmony Road Exit (Exit 265) westbound, and enter AMD campus on right immediately following Harmony/Ziegler intersection.  AMD is located on the NW corner of Harmony Road and Ziegler Road.  Proceed to 3rd floor for escort to seminar auditorium.  Non-AMD employees:  please arrive at 4:15pm for security sign-in and escort.

ABSTRACT
The current US economic slowdown has important implications for northern Colorado.  The current state of the northern Colorado economy will be discussed with emphasis on how recent national changes have helped shape the region.  The speaker will also present his economic forecast for the region, and discuss ongoing research about the northern Colorado clean energy economy.

PROF. MARTIN SHIELDS (Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO)

Martin Shields is an Associate Professor of Economics at Colorado State University.  His research looks at the forces influencing regional economic competitiveness and the effects of economic growth on income distribution.  One ongoing project looks at the competitive strengths of the regional workforce and the new skills employers are looking for.  Prof. Shields' research is sponsored by the Northern Colorado Economic Development Corporation and Colorado State University's Office of Economic Development.
