Leadership and the New Economy

From I-25, take Harmony Road Exit (Exit 265) westbound, and enter AMD campus on right immediately following Harmony/Ziegler intersection.  AMD is located on the NW corner of Harmony Road and Ziegler Road.  Proceed to 3rd floor for escort to seminar auditorium.  Non-AMD employees:  please arrive at 4:15pm for security sign-in and escort.

ABSTRACT

The first part of this talk will discuss strategy, culture, execution, and the people process, four key elements that determine the success of an enterprise.  We will see how everyone from the CEO down to individual contributors participates in these elements.  The second part of the talk will discuss several trends in world economics that have created different demands on all of us.  Some strategies are put forth as possible ways to not only survive, but take advantage of the reality of this New Economy.

DR. DON McGRATH (LSI, Fort Collins, CO)

Don McGrath received his BSEE from R.I.T. in Rochester, NY and his MSEE from Purdue University, Lafayette, IN before joining General Electric Corporate R&D Center in 1988.  At GE, he worked as part of research teams developing integrated circuits for industrial circuit breakers, power meters, home appliances as well as medical imaging equipment.  While working at GE, he completed his PhD at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY with a thesis that focused on optimization of high-order sigma-delta ADCs.  In 2001, he joined LSI as Manager of Mixed-Signal Development and since then has been involved in development of Mixed-Signal IP including Serdes, USB cores, data converters, regulators, continuous-time filters, I/Os, and standard cells in support of LSI’s target markets.  Dr. McGrath in currently Director of Analog IP Development and continues to innovate, with over 30 US patents as well as manage teams that produce leading edge analog IP.
