Welcome to the New Orleans Chapter of the IEEE Industry Applications Society

The New Orleans Chapter of the IEEE Industry Applications Soceity (IAS) became an official IEEE chapter in 2008. The chapter consists of approximately 80 members. The largest committee of the IAS that the members participate in is the Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee (PCIC). Of the PCIC activities, the Marine Subcommittee has a task force in the chapter that holds technical meetings similar to the main IAS meetings. The chapter has also formed reciprocal relationships with related organizations to coordinate and strengthen the technical resources available to members.

The vision statement of the IAS is shown below:

...to be a world leader in the advancement of technology and dissemination of technical information to support professionals engaged in the applications of electrical and electronic engineering to industry.

...the advancement of the theory and practice of electrical and electronic engineering in the development, design, manufacture and application of electrical systems, apparatus, devices and controls to the processes and equipment of industry and commerce; the promotion of safe, reliable and economical installations; industry leadership in energy conservation and environmental health and safety issues; the creation of voluntary engineering standards and recommended practices; and the professional development of its membership.
