A quorum was present. The following officers and guests attended the meeting:   Lyle McCurdy, Keith Reno, Mike Sedlar, Bill Holbrook, Chuck Antoniak, Art Sutton, and Dave Perry.

b. Approval of minutes  for July 25th, 2002--Mike Sedlar

The minutes were approved.  Mike requested that the committee review and update the action items from previous meetings.  These action items will now be included with each set of minutes.  The committee reviewed the minutes and made changes as captured in section VI below.  Three action items were added.

c. Approval of Agenda--new items to add to the agenda?  Lyle McCurdy

There were no items added.

II. Reports on upcoming section activities

Lyle reported that the next LAC meeting is on November 2nd at China Lake.  The meeting is being held there as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Sidewinder missile program.

a. Update on plans for section technical meeting on Seismic Net Interpretation  Dave Perry

Dave reported that the annual meeting of the seismic sensor group is Sept 7.  They will be tied up for a while but could probably do a meeting in January.

b. Update on plans for section meeting at Wescon 2002 on "Eng Finances"    everyone & Chuck

The announcement was placed in the September LAC bulletin with all details. Chuck will need an overhead projector for presenting his viewgraphs.

Also, Lyle has planned to present Pspice at WESCON on Thursday.

The section has purchased a table at the Thursday dinner for WESCON.  * people can be accommodated for $300.  The dinner is at the Anaheim Marriot Ballroom.  We need to get members to attend and fill up our table.

c. IEEE Section Congress, Washington DC, October 17-22, 2002    Lyle McCurdy

Lyle will be going to the section congress.  Region 6 will pay for one person from the section.  The total estimated cost is about $1000 including $400+ for airfare and $265 for registration fees.

d. Planning for section meeting/workshop on Pspice at Rockwell-Collins (October '02)   everyone

Mike and Lyle have the action to setup a meeting for November.  The plan is to get a computer lab at Rockwell Collins for a Saturday meeting.  The lab would have to be setup (install software) before the meeting.

e. Region 6 Southern Area Meeting at Cal Poly Pomona, Sat, Oct 12, 02 9:00 am to 5:00 pm  Lyle & Art

The Foothill section is hosting this meeting, so we can get credit for the meeting and an L31 form should be filled out.  About 50 people are expected.

Bill reported that the website files have been sent to Bill Jones for review and approval.  The site should be up and running soon.

Art reported that he went to the Internet training session and got the software.  Would it be possible to use this software to hold our EXCOM sessions via the Internet?
