Contest Parameters

  1. All platforms OK
    - submissions will be judged based on originality, creativity and execution -- and on whether they are fun to play
    - size, complexity, or amount of effort put into the project will not be primary considerations (in other words, there's no fundamental advantage to a project that has had a two-year head start)
  2. Non-Professional Participation
  3. - at least two thirds of team members must be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students at participating colleges and universities.
    - if a game uses any content (code, images, sound, music, etc.), attribution must be given in-game and on the one-pager, and permission must have been acquired if necessary.
  4. Legal rights:
    - entrant shall retain all intellectual property rights in and to the Game Entry
    - if external content is used, it MUST be attributed to the source and permission(s) must have been acquired.
    - proof of permission(s) will be checked for the winning entries, so availability of such documentation is critical
    - failure to obtain permission or present evidence of permission will result in disqualification of the submission
  5. Submission Components (see Submission Guidelines for details):
    - a link to a YouTube video of the game must be provided
    - a concept document must also be submitted – a One Page Executive Summary – PDF format
    - the game must reasonably be expected to receive a rating of either “E” or “T” from the Entertainment Software Rating Board [ESRB], based on ESRB’s criteria as of the announcement date of this showcase
  6. The decisions of the judges are final
  7. Finalists will present their work to the live audience on the day of the event. Presenters should be prepared to connect their machines via HDMI to the video projector and are encouraged to test their setups prior to the event. The room will open one hour prior to the event for this purpose.
