Abstract
The CASAS Smart Home project is a multi-disciplinary research project
at Washington State University focused on the creation of an
intelligent home environment. The basis of this project is a set of
testbeds made of sensors and controllers in living spaces. Data gathered
by the sensors is interpreted by artificial intelligence algorithms to
identify individuals, determine activities and make decisions about the
space. The research group's work has focused upon elder care and energy
efficiency tools, but is moving towards more complex behavioral analysis
and privacy issues. This talk will cover the hardware aspects, artificial
intelligence strategies and overall design goals guided by real-world
deployments of smart homes.
The Speaker
Aaron S. Crandall is a PhD student at Washington State University who
works with artificial intelligence and smart home systems. Originally
from Portland, he has a Master of Computer Science from OHSU and a
Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Portland.
His interests include AI systems, the future of education and coin
collecting. He lives in Colfax, WA with his wife Krystal,
his son Perry and their German Shepherd, Tasha. |
