Abstract
TMDS, the technology behind the
widely commercialized DVI and HDMI interfaces, has been
around since the late 90s. When the technology
was developed, there was great need for a simple,
digital point-to-point high-bandwidth solution to
connect displays to source devices. Fast-forward
to 2011, and we see that consumer requirements for
connecting digital video around the house have grown
dramatically and are very different. We are now in
a world where users have multiple digital displays and
they want content to follow them – not locked in to one
location. A next-generation interface needs to
address consumer demands for networking uncompressed
video, audio, data and power throughout the home. That
interface is here – DiiVA (The Digital Interactive
Interface for Video & Audio).
Comprised of Changhong, Haier, Hisense, Konka, LG,
Panda, Samsung, Skyworth, Sony, SVA, TCL and Synerchip,
the
DiiVA Consortium is committed to delivering the
next-generation
home entertainment architecture. DiiVA's combination
of uncompressed video, a high-bandwidth bi-directional
data channel, multiprotocol networking, and middleware
and application layers drives mobile, PC and CE network
convergence, enabling intuitive access to content and
thereby maximizing the home entertainment experience.
This talk is aimed at industry professionals and
technology enthusiasts who want to know more about
the new DiiVA interface standard and understand how this
technology will come to market in the near future.
