About IEEE-SCV:

The Santa Clara Valley (SCV) Section is to promote the aims and objectives of the IEEE as stated in the IEEE Constitution and Bylaws. The Section concerns itself with all IEEE affairs taking place within the area prescribed by the IEEE as the territory of the SCV Section that geographically takes in all the peninsula cities south of Highway 92, plus the counties of Monterey, San Benito, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz. The SCV, more popularly known as Silicon Valley, is the largest IEEE Section in the world in terms of membership as well as active chapters.

ExCom Meeting:

Monthly Section ExCom meeting except for summer break (July & August) is held at 6:00pm on the 1st Wednesday of the month in the boardroom at Cogswell Polytechnical College.

Celebration of IEEE 125th Anniversary

The SCV Section is planning the celebration of IEEE 125th anniversary on Sept. 16 at Computer History Museum.

IEEE Milestone for "IC@50" Celebration

SCV Section in partnership with the Chemical Heritage Foundation and the Computer History Museum celebrated 50th Anniversary of the Integrated Circuit (IC): Salute to the Semiconductor on May 6 - 8. The "IC@50" celebration had a week-long celebration of events at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA including unveiling the IEEE Milestone plaque for Semiconductor Planar Process & Integrated Circuit, 1959 at the original Fairchild Semiconductor site on May 8. Major funding for Salute to the Semiconductor was generously provided by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Intel Corporation. Additional funding for the IC@50 events is provided by the National Semiconductor Foundation, a charitable fund at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. The "IC@50" milestone was initiated by SCV Section and approved by IEEE in 2008.

2009 Officers Training

2009 officers training workshop was held on Saturday, January 24 at Michaels at Shoreline in Mountain View by The IEEE San Francisco Bay Area Council.
