Abstract:  An Update on Sustainable Electrical Facility Design

This presentation will explore a variety of options that can be designed into a commercial building to improve sustainability and energy efficiency.  Included will be some features and lessons learned from Integrated Design Associates’ (IDeAs) facility, the first net zero energy commercial building in the country, as well as several other sustainable projects.  The discussion will touch on all facets of electrical building design including lighting and lighting controls, on-site generation, efficient resource use, hazardous material avoidance, energy saving equipment and a touch on various sustainable rating systems.
