Title

Lessons in Remote Presence

Speaker

Sanford Dickert, Product Director for the Texai Remote Presence Product at Willow Garage

Abstract

Willow Garage has been developing a remote presence system designed to connect remote workers to their coworkers while maintaining presence both where they are and where they need to me. The Texai is Willow Garage's effort into exploring how a new communication platform can merge video technologies with robotics.

This presentation will go over our efforts in developing a remote presence system and how it came about at Willow Garage. We will discuss the evolution and history of this work and the space itself, along with some of our experiences to date with our recent field study sites and lessons that have been gleaned.
