Abstract:

This is a high level overview of IP networking originally intended for a quick education of people not experienced with IP networking fundamentals.  We will also be discussing the role of IEEE standards in common networks such as 802.11 and 802.15.   There will also be a high level overview of the signals used in these popular communications mediums.  This discussion is not intended for the practicing network engineer; but rather aims to provide a refresher of information and possibly some new insights.  How does a router utilize a subnet mask?  Not sure and would like to know, then please attend this presentation.

About the Speaker:

Chris A. Perry received his BSEE from Purdue University and was first employed by US West as an Outside Plant Engineer in Denver and promoted to Network Planner.  After the merger with Qwest, he worked in the Qwest Advanced Technologies research and development facility in Boulder developing customer premise equipment as a Member of Technical Staff.  For the past 5 years he has held various positions in the IP based home automation and security industry.  He is currently developing hosted server based access control systems for AVS Technology Group.
