The SAS GOLD Committee is pleased to welcome you to a mixer for Wednesday November 30th. If you are interested in coming out and/or have some other people in mind, that would be great. The mixer is open to IEEE members and non members. This is a good opportunity to talk to the executive about tour events or technical seminars that would be interesting to you in your field. It is also an opportunity to meet new people in your field and have some fun!

Janet Electrical Substation Tour

SAS Gold organized a guided tour of AltaLink’s 240kV Janet Substation in the SE of Calgary on Sept 20, 2005. The substation hosts 240kV and 138kV voltages and supplies power to Calgary. The four hour long guided tour gave visitors a chance to see components of Alberta’s Interconnected Electric System (AIES) in operation. Participants were introduced to high voltage components and associated low voltage protection & control, SCADA and teleprotection. The tour proved to be a fun outdoor learning opportunity.
