May 9, 2007: - The Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society Chapter is formed as a separate chapter.
May 9, 2007: - IEEE Control Systems, Information Theory, and Intelligent Transportation Societies are added to "Signals & Computational Intelligence Joint Chapter".
February 2006: - the "Signals & Computational Intelligence Joint Chapter"
is pleased to announce that three IEEE Toronto members have won the 2003
IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks Best Paper Award, an award of the IEEE
Computational Intelligence Society. The paper is
"Face Recognition Using Kernel Direct Discriminant Analysis
Algorithms" Juwei Lu, Konstantinos N. Plataniotis, and Anastasios N.
Venetsanopoulos, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, Vol. 14, No. 1,
January 2003

October 2005: - at the 2005 IEEE Sections Congress, the IEEE Aerospace and
Electronic Systems Society honoured this chapter as its Outstanding Chapter
for 2004. The righthand photo shows AESS President Paul Gartz presenting the
award to Toronto's Sri Krishnan with AESS Chapter Coordinator Zafar Taqvi in

August 2005: - this joint chapter was created by combining the IEEE Computational
Intelligence Society (CIS) chapter and a joint chapter of five other societies (IEEE Aerospace & Electronic Systems Society,
IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society, IEEE Ultrasound, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society,
and IEEE Vehicular Technology Society)
