Biography

Behnaz Ghoraani is a PhD candidate in electrical and computer engineering program, specialized in the area of Signal Processing and Biomedical Engineering. She has had extensive experience as an engineer working in the field, a teacher and a researcher. Behnaz has been a recipient of several prestigious scholarships and academic achievement awards. Currently, Behnaz is a holder of four such awards. Behnaz is the first author of several peer-reviewed publications in prestigious international journals and conferences and a co-author of a book chapter. She also has several presentations in Canada and internationally, and has been asked to serve as a reviewer of journal and conference papers.

Behnaz has been seriously involved in professional activities, particularly of the Institute of the Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). She is Chair of IEEE Toronto Women in Engineering Section, Vice Chair of IEEE Canada Women In Engineering, IEEE Toronto Signal Processing Section, an IEEE Canada Electronic Newsletter editor, and has served as a program committee member and technical program coordinator for several IEEE conferences including IEEE Toronto International Conference Science and Technology for Humanity (TIC-STH) 2009. She has also been a committee member of IEEE Canada, TELUS Undergrad Innovation Award Competition in 2008.
