| Abstract
|
Intellectual Property is widely recognized as an important part of the
growth and success of a technology company. Therefore, it is important
for engineers, technology managers and researchers in academia to
understand the fundamentals of intellectual property including the
various forms of intellectual property protection. This presentation
provides an introduction to the various aspects of intellectual property
protection which includes patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade
secrets.

| Biography
|
Tony is a patent agent with Bereskin & Parr and a member of the firm's
software/high technology group. Tony practices in patent drafting and
prosecution and providing patentability opinions for innovations in the
electrical, biomedical and software fields. Tony has a B.A.Sc. (1995)
and an M.A.Sc. (1998) in Electrical engineering from the University of
Toronto and has also worked as an engineer in the video chip and image
processing fields.
