| Abstract
|
This is a follow-up of the May 24, 2007 technical conference ‘Reactor Designs for the Upcoming Nuclear Stations Worldwide’. Originally timed for two weeks prior to the Provincial election on October 10, 2007, this conference had to be rescheduled to assure Government of Ontario participation; first to February 28 and later to March 27, 2008. It was to include presentations by the Ontario Ministry of Energy and four nuclear reactor suppliers. However, as per Toronto Star article on March 22, 2008, the March 7, 2008 Government RFP put restrictions on public presentations by the suppliers. The March 19, 2008 ground rules clarification meeting with the suppliers clearly put a gag order on them and we have learned that the Government will not participate in our forum.
Therefore our engineering forum will provide presentations from the prominent experts from the nuclear industry instead. It promises in depth, even more lively discussion on the very basis of the Ontario nuclear energy future.
The audience, similarly to the last conference, will include Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power staff as well as other engineers from the nuclear industry, engineering/science students and faculty, retiree engineers, and engineering community in general (IEEE, PEO, CNS).
