A note from your Executives
Best wishes to all members and volunteers for a successful new year from all your
Executives of the IEEE Toronto Section. May you and your families have a healthy and
prosperous 2003
The year 2003 is the 100 Anniversary of the formation of IEEE Toronto Section.
A committee has been formed to plan for a number of events that will mark the 100
anniversary of the formation of the Toronto Section. Any ideas that you may have will be
greatly appreciated. Just contact any of your executives.
Roster.
In 2002 we had a number of changes in the roster. The chair for the Dielectrics and
Insulation Chapter, Hugh Zhu, moved to the west coast and we wish him all the very best in
his new ventures. We are now pleased to welcome our new chair Jody Levine as well as vice
chair John Densley . They took over the leadership of the Dielectrics & Insulation
Chapter in October 2001 and you will have the opportunity to meet them at the next Chapter
meeting.
We also wish to welcome Rong - Liang Chen who accepted the position as chair for the Power
Engineering Society after Vince Green who unfortunately had to resign due to other
commitments. Thank you Vince for your contribution to the Toronto Section.
Membership.
Toronto Section grew by almost 4% in 2002. The active membership in November 2001 was
3,331 and in November 2002 it was 3,462 representing a gain of 131 members. For the second
consecutive year The IEEE Toronto section was awarded the SUSTAINED MEMBERSHIP GROWTH
AWARD. A warm welcome to all new members.
Life Members Chapter.
In 2002 the Life Members Chapter was formed. The Toronto Section is proud of having some
200 members qualifying for this distinction. The experience contained in this group is a
valuable asset to the whole section and we encourage you to contact Bob Alden, life member
and chair, whenever you need their services. Please visit the website below for more
information.
IEEE Toronto Section web site.
There have been a number of improvements to the website and whenever you need more
