IEEE Toronto Section Executive Committee Biographies
The operation of the IEEE Toronto Section is managed by the Section Executive committee, whose members are elected or appointed every two years. On each of these pages, we introduce a member of the committee who volunteers his or her time and energy to deliver the services that the IEEE Toronto Section provides. On your behalf, we recognize their invaluable contributions.

Behnaz Ghoraani - Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group Chair

Behnaz Ghoraani is a PhD Candidate in Electrical Engineering program at Ryerson University under supervision of Dr. Sri Krishnan. Her area of specialization includes optimal signal feature representation and localization for pattern classification of biomedical and multimedia signals. She is also interested in watermarking and fingerprinting for multimedia security. Behnaz is awarded an Ontario Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology for her research in signal feature extraction. She received her B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from Sharif University in 1998, followed by master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2000.

Behnaz believes in the significance of women's roles in engineering and science. She was with IEEE Toronto Section Women in Engineering (WIE) as the secretary from August 2007. Since January 2008, she is the chair of IEEE Toronto Section WIE.
