Dr. Ian Hastings, Director of Reactor Development Operations at Atomic
Energy Canada Ltd. in Sheridan Research Park, Mississauga gave a seminar
arranged by our life member and power engineering chapters at the Old Mill
Inn. His presentation was an interesting counter perspective to the
Ontario government's plan to eliminate coal generation without any viable
replacement alternative. He presented information to dispel common
myths by demonstrating that nuclear generation is economical, environmently
friendly, safe, and that its waste is all accounted for.
