The Old Mill Inn. Click to enlarge Annual General Meeting and Awards Dinner   The Annual General Meeting and Awards Dinner of the IEEE Toronto Section will be held at the Old Mill Inn, 21 Old Mill Road, Toronto.   This is a opportunity to meet and socialize with your fellow IEEE members.   And a great time to discuss your concerns with and make suggestion to the IEEE volunteers that organize all of our Section's events.   Come and take part of a fine dinner, meet our award winners and our guest speaker, Brian O'Connell, president of the IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology.   Brian is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Philosophy at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain.   He teaches courses concerned with the ethical, legal and social aspects of computing and with the jurisprudence of new technologies.   Tickets are available at a Section-subsidized price of $70 per person (member and companion) from Dennis Cecic.   Click for details.

E-News now using IEEE Membership Database   IEEE Toronto E-News is the short email message sent automatically every month to Section members who have their email address stored in the IEEE membership database.   The purpose of E-News is to alert you to what is in the current edition of our Section newsletter.   Starting this month, the email addresses for Section members will be obtained from the IEEE membership data base.   Is your current email address in that database?   Use this link http://www.ieee.org/membership/manage.html to check, then add or update your email address - use "Update your personal profile" on the linked page.   Or use the link just below that one to obtain or update your IEEE email alias.   Using an IEEE email alias (which points to your email address) has the added advantage of giving you virus protection and spam filtering, and it is available free of charge.   By the way, anyone else can subscribe to E-News from our news page.

The Fourth Interdisciplinary Conference on The Evolution of World Order is scheduled for October 14-16, 2004, at Ryerson University in Toronto.   The theme for this year is Appropriate Political and Legal Structures - Necessary Steps to Full Spectrum Justice, Peace, and Ecological Integrity.   Click here for the call for participation and papers.   Supported by our Engineering & Human Environment Chapter.
