in project management. Now scheduled for two days back-to-back October 28 & 29
with a revised registration deadline of October 20, 2006. The IEEE Toronto
Section is offering a 2-day course in Project Management, for those who manage
or work on projects, but have little or no formal training in the field. The
course is based on processes recommended by the Project Management Institute,
the primary authority on project management. "Project Management - Meeting
those Pesky Requirements", is taught by Celia Desmond, B.Sc., M. Eng.,

Hall of Fame The Hall of Fame section features the IEEE Fellows of the Toronto Section.
Dr. Andrew Goldenberg FIEEE, received the B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. degrees from Technion—Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, in 1969 and 1972, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario in 1976, all in electrical engineering. From 1975 to 1981, he was employed by Spar Aerospace Ltd., Toronto, where he worked mainly on the control, analysis, and design of the space shuttle remote manipulator system and on satellite controls.
Dr. Goldenberg, founder of Engineering Services Inc. (ESI), is a world-renowned developer of robotics and automation systems. He holds many patents and has published over one hundred papers in leading technical journals. He is the President of ESI, and in this capacity has pioneered the application of modular and re-configurable robotics and automation technologies to new industrial niches. He is an inventor or co-inventor of all of the technologies of ESI. Dr. Goldenberg is involved in the day-to-day management and administration of ESI.
Dr. Goldenberg is also a Professor and the Director of the Robotics and Automation Laboratory and the Mechatronics Laboratory at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Goldenberg is a Past Editor of the IEEE Transaction on Robotics and Automation, a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE), a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), and a Designated Consulting Engineer of Ontario. 2006 IEEE Annual Election Period Opens
29 August – Eligible voting IEEE members will soon be receiving their 2006 IEEE Annual Election ballot packages in the mail. Ballot materials can also be accessed electronically here.
The opportunity to vote in the IEEE Annual Election is a privilege of membership. This year, for the first time, the privilege is being extended to eligible graduate student members. Also, this year for the first time, voters can view video footage of the candidates through the IEEE Annual Election Web site. All ballots must be received by the election vendor by 1 November 2006 at 12 noon, Central Time USA (18:00 Greenwich Mean Time) to be counted.
IEEE to Dedicate Milestones in Canada, Ireland, Scotland and the U.S.
29 August – The IEEE will dedicate four IEEE Milestones in Electrical Engineering and Computing in September honoring significant achievements in the engineering field around the world.
