| Jim Balsillie is the Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Research in Motion Limited since 1992. He is responsible for directing strategy, business development and finance. |

RIM is best known for the BlackBerry handheld which as been honoured with awards, such as:
- The Red Herring 100 (2001)
- InfoWorld Magazine's Product of the Year Award in the Mobile Computing category for BlackBerry (2000);
- PC World's World Class Award, naming BlackBerry the Best Wireless Communication Device (2000);
- Profit 100 Award for 2000;
- Smithsonian Award: ComputerWorld (1999), which includes the acceptance of the RIM Inter@ctive Pager 950 into the Smithsonian Institution's Permanent Research Collection of Information Technology, the world's premier historical record of computing applications and innovations;
Jim is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate of the University of Toronto and of Harvard University.
