The Chapter cooperates closely
with the "Werkgemeenschap voor Informatie- en Communicatietheorie (WIC)" and coordinates its
activities and initiatives with those of the Werkgemeenschap.
Some History

The initiative to found an IEEE
Chapter on Information Theory in the Benelux came from Edward C. van der Meulen, who had
also been active in establishing the "Werkgemeenschap
voor Informatie-
en Communicatietheorie" in the early
eighties. The Chapter is active since 1990. Edward served as the
first Chairman of the Chapter. |

Activities
|
Since 1990 the Chapter co-organizes, jointly with
the Werkgemeenschap voor
Informatie- en Communicatietheorie
(WIC), an annual Symposium on Information Theory in the Apart from that, the Chapter organizes other
activities. A recent event was the "Seminar on Relay
Communication" that took place on May 27, 2009, at the
Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. |
