Membership in the IEEE is open to individuals who by education or experience give evidence of competence in an IEEE designated field of interest. The designated fields are, in broad terms: Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, Physical Sciences, Biological and Medical Sciences, Mathematics, Technical Communications, Education, Management, Law, and Policy. Join IEEE as a Student or Graduate Student Member At the login screen select Create an IEEE Account.  By continuing you acknowledge that you carry at least 50% of a full time academic program/course of study in an IEEE Designated field of interest. (undergraduate or graduate).  Students are required to join IEEE online. Join an IEEE Society Customize and add value to your IEEE Membership by joining one or more of the 38 IEEE Societies.  With your society membership, you can stay on top of your chosen technology, keep in touch with your peers, and invest in your career and profession. IEEE dues and fees are listed on the cost chart. The half-year dues rate will be reflected in the online shopping cart, and are priced at 50% of the full-year dues rates. You can also enjoy a further low income earners discount if you earn less than $12,600. Upon completing the form, save it and exit.  Next you will have to pay the Naira equivalent of the dues to the IEEE UBA or GTB accounts below. (If you can pay via mastercard, go ahead with that) Step by Step Directions 1.  Go to http://ieee.org/join 2.  Choose the appropriate type of membership. (professional or student) 3.  Create a Web Account – This entails completing a form. Write down your username and password in a safe place so you do not forget it. Also use a valid email address. 4.  Complete the Education and Employment Information 5.  When you’re through, you’ll receive a welcome message 6.  If you completed the previous section properly, you should see $XX.XX in your cart 7.  Click on View Cart/Proceed to Checkout 8.  Click on Add IEEE Societies or other memberships and subscriptions (if you don’t add societies at this stage, the discount will only apply to membership) 9.  Click Add to Cart at the desired society - The item on the Cart will change to reflect the new addition. Do this for each society you want to join 10. Click on View Cart/Proceed to Checkout 11. Click on Claim reduced fees as unemployed, retired or minimum income 12. On the Apply for Reduced Dues page, enter your date of birth and chose society, Then choose the Discount Type (minimum income) and click Apply for Discount 13. The final cost on the Cart will now change to reflect the discount 14. Click on Checkout – This will take you to the PAYMENT page 15. Click on Print Order to Mail or Fax Upon completing the form, save it and exit.  Next you will have to pay the Naira equivalent of the dues to the IEEE NIGERIA UBA or GTB accounts below. Nigeria Section Account Number: 501647282110 (new A/C#: 0038387576) Exchange rate is fixed at $1 to NGN170 (as at January 2012) Local annual Section dues for the operations of the section is as follows: Members: NGN2, 000.00 (two thousand Naira only) Student member: N500.00 (five hundred Naira only) After you have made the payments (International & local dues) in the bank, send an email to md@nigercon.info. In your email, please include your name, Membership Number, amount paid and details of what you paid for. Also if you can, please include the scanned copy of the payment teller and the IEEE order you printed.
