The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) was founded in 1884 with Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison among its charter members. Today, the IEEE serves over 350,000 members who are geographically organized into 10 Regions, over 300 Sections, and more than 1,100 Student Branches worldwide. Not only is the IEEE the world's largest technical and professional society, it is also publishes 30% of the electrical engineering and computer science literature in the world.
IEEE GOLD represents the young IEEE members, generally engineers or computer professionals.
GOLD (Graduates Of the Last Decade) has been designed to help these young professionals in their professional development. Besides many other benefits, the international network of the IEEE distinguishes it from many other engineering associations.

Search for New Faces of Engineering 2006
In an effort to honor the most outstanding among its youngest members, the engineering community has announced an international call for nominees for New Faces of Engineering 2006. Now in its fourth year, the recognition program is a centerpiece of Engineers Week, 19-25 February 2006.
Each year, more than a dozen women and men 30 years of age and younger are selected as New Faces from hundreds of nominees, each submitted to the Engineers Week Committee by one of its sponsoring societies (IEEE) or government agencies. Any engineer, from any discipline, 30 years or young with a degree in engineering from a recognized U.S. college or university, or equivalent international educational institution, is eligible. Candidates nominated must be IEEE members and nominations are submitted by 31 October 2006 to Helen Hall, IEEE-USA Communications, at h.hall@ieee.org. Nomination information is available at http://www.ieee-jp.org/section/fukuoka/IEEE-New-Faces-Nomination-Form.htm

Time Saver: Submitting GOLD Activity Reports Electronically
When you are ready to submit your GOLD Affinity Group activity reports to your Section, did you know that you could submit the reports after each meeting (instead of waiting until the end of year) and take care of it electronically on the IEEE web site? Submit your meeting report electronically at http://www.ieee.org/L31and a copy will be sent to your Section. This is the best way to insure your meetings are recorded and the Section is notified. If you use the electronic reporting form, you are sure to submit all the required information, since the form provides prompts and it won’t let you submit the record with missing information.
Please remember that the minimum meeting requirements to earn a rebate each year is two (2) meetings for Affinity Groups. It is very important to report at least two of your affinity group meeting. If you have any questions on the reporting form or have trouble using the form, please send an email to mailto:sec-rebate@ieee.orgor call +1 732 562 5513.
