Student Paper Contest 2009

Oral presentations of finalist papers will be presented at the special session SS3-SPC at the yearly IEEE R8 Student Paper Contest. Sum up results of the Contest and winners will be also determining at the session.

Any undergraduate student (also postgraduate) from any country (treated as the R8 country) may be a participant of the Contest, in the case if on the Contest moment he:

  • is the winner of the contest conducted by any IEEE R8 Student Branch,
  • is an undergraduate student (postgraduate) attending the course in any certificated university (college),
  • is the IEEE Member.

Student Branch may submit one paper for every 100 branch members or part thereof, with a maximum of three papers

5 (five) Contest finalists are determined by the competent jury presented different countries in R8. They make oral presentations at the EUROCON 2009. Theirs papers prepared according to conference rules will be published in EURON2009 Proceedings. Also papers electronic versions will be published at the IEEE Region 8 SAC web pages.

Travel expenses (train 2nd class, or plane economy class for very long distances) will be provided by the Region 8 Student Activities Fund to one author of each paper accepted by the jury for oral presentation. Living expenses, which may occur while attending the oral presentation may also be reimbursed; the guidelines for this reimbursements will be mailed to attendees before the presentation (see also).

At the special session, Competent jury will define 3 (three) winners of the Contest. There will the ceremony of money prizes awarding (from the Life Member Fund) to winners (in the year 2006 amounts were 800, 500 and 200 US Dollars respectively). Also, the Region 8 Student Activities Fund offers $ 250 as the “Dick Poortvliet Award” to the branch where the winner comes from.

To avoid any misunderstandings, the Conference Organizing Committee earnestly ask every participant of SS3-SPC session to register and submit theirs own materials in the time of deadline.
