About the ChapterWelcome to the webpage of the United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland (UKRI) Chapter of the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS). The Society encourages its members to use the strong brand of the IEEE, to promote scholarly activities, business and enterprise within and beyond the power electronics community. We look to our members to share our visions, for new ideas, and to help participate and organise local events, or to serve on the Committee. You can contact the Chapter Chairman if you might be interested in helping. Society's Mission and Field of InterestThe Society interprets Power Electronics widely as a key enabling technology in essentially all electronic systems ranging from wireless communication devices to portable and desktop computers, from electric vehicle to power transmission infrastructure and industrial systems. The field of interest therefore embraces education, research, development, design, application, installation and operation of apparatus, equipment, structures, materials, services and systems for the safe, reliable and economic processing of electric power and energy. It includes the developing of engineering standards, the providing of information and instruction to the public and to legislators, as well as technical scientific, educational, business and other activities that contribute to the power electronics discipline.
