Synopsis

The efficient use of electrical energy depends critically on the use of advance semiconductor technology. At all levels of power consumption from the few mill watts of a mobile phone to the Multi megawatts in a power distribution system they key technology is the semiconductor switch.

This talk will look at the state of the art power semiconductor technology that is employed in power management. The current leading edge technologies as well as new promising materials will be covered. A range of examples showing how the technology impacts on our every day lives will be presented, in areas such as advanced electric vehicles and super high switching speed power supplies for next generation microprocessor power supplies.
