Request for Proposal to Host the 2012 TENCON Conference
all Sections to submit a proposal by 20th February 2009 to host the 2012 TENCON conference series.

Interested section should submit a proposal to the Region 10 Conference Coordinator with the following information:

  1. Proposed venue and attractions around the venue
  2. Probable Dates
  3. Conference Theme and Scope
  4. Preliminary budget including proposed fee, income and expenses.

Please submit your proposal to Prof. Marzuki Khalid at marzuki.khalid@gmail.com by due date 20 Feb 2009 if your Section is interested.

R10 Affinity Group OF THE YEAR CERTIFICATE OF HONOUR

The IEEE Women in Engineering initiative has been established to promote achievements of women professionals in fields of interest to IEEE. WIE promotes membership growth and elevation of its members. Also, WIE gathers and disseminates information on the status of women in technology and science.

The R10 IEEE Women in Engineering Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2008 R10 WIE Affinity Groups of the Year Certificate of Honour.

The WIE Affinity Group of the Year Certificate of Honour is given annually to one WIE Affinity Group in Asia Pacific Region that has shown outstanding
leadership and initiative in organizing activities. The awarding of the certificate will be based on programs that took place during the period of 1 January to 31 December 2008

The winning WIE Affinity Group will be awarded a subsidy in the amount of US$250 for future Affinity Group activities and a Certificate of Recognition.

Winner selection will be based on:

  • Quality of activities and programs sponsored/co-sponsored by the affinity group
  • Quantity of activities and programs
  • The number of participants at regular meetings and other activities and programs
  • Demonstrations of outreach programs to young women
  • The number of people served by the outreach
  • Communication with its members
  • Growth of affinity group membership
  • Affinity group website (if available)

Nominations may be sent by simply completing the nomination form. All nominations must be received no later than 1 February 2009. The R10 WIE Committee will review all nominations and rank order them based on the criteria listed above.

As a general rule, an Affinity Group cannot receive this Certificate of Honour more than once every three years.
