Formation of IEEE Failure Analysis Special Interest Group in 1985 in Singapore.

Inaugural IPFA 1987 was organized by the IEEE Singapore Section, in cooperation with the Industrial Electronics Society & faculty staff from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

IPFA conference continued as a biennial event until IPFA 2001.

With increasing interest from the Failure Analysis and Reliability communities, the IPFA committee decided to organize it annually, beginning with IPFA 2002.

IPFA2004 in Hsinchu, Taiwan.

IPFA2007 in Bangalore, India.

IPFA2009 in Suzhou, China.

IPFA2011 in Incheon, South Korea.

IPFA’s vision has been to develop it to be the Asian counterpart to corresponding conferences like IRPS & ISTFA in the USA, and ESREF in Europe.

Collaboration with ISTFA & ESREF:

     Best Paper (FA) Exchange with ISTFA initiated in 1999

     Best Paper (Reliability) Exchange with ESREF initiated in 2000.

Milestones:

     IPFA Best Paper Award in 1997.

     IPFA Technical Program Steering Committee in 2002.

     Collaboration with IEEE Transaction on Device and Materials Reliability (TDMR) in 2004.

     IPFA Board formation in 2004.

     IPFA celebrates its 20th Year in 2006.
