Region
3 of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers,
Inc. is now soliciting nominations for the following
award:
Employer
Professional Development Award
Information
regarding the criteria for this award and nomination
instructions can be found in Section 2 of the Region
3 Awards and Recognition Program Manual.
The
deadline for nominations is December 1 of each year.
Recipients will be notified during January/February
and the award presentation will be made at Southeastcon.
Nominations
packages should be submitted directly to the Region
3 Educational Activities Committee Chair by mailing

Purpose:
To recognize organizations in Region 3 which employ
IEEE members for outstanding contributions by the
organization to employee continuing education and
professional development as evidenced by their quality,
comprehensiveness, innovation, or impact.

Scope:
One award annually
Basis
of Selection(General): Contributions to employee
continuing education and professional development
as evidenced by their quality, comprehensiveness,
innovation, or impact.
Basis of Selection(Specific):
- Specific
contributions to the continuing education or professional
development of engineering employees in Region 3.
- Contributions
to the continuing education or professional development
of other technical or non-technical employees.
- Importance
of these contributions to the individual employee.
Selection
Committee: IEEE Region 3 Educational Activities
Awards and Recognition Committee (EAARC)
Award Instrument: A framed certificate, suitably
inscribed, attesting to the contributions made by
the organization.

- "IEEE
Region 3 Employer Professional Development Award
Nomination Form," completed by nominator.
- Letter
of endorsement from an IEEE member employed by the
organization being nominated.
- Letter
of endorsement from Section Chair in the area in
which the organization is located.
- Optional-
letter of endorsement from one other individual.
- No
more than five pages of additional material supporting
the claims of contributions or achievements.

NOTE:
Refer to the "General Guidelines" portion of this
section of the Region 3 Awards Program Manual for
important instructions regarding the completion of
this nomination package.
Specific
Instructions:
- Organization
name as it should appear on the award.
- Name
of specific individual within the organization who
has present responsibility for continuing education
or professional development.
- Business
address and telephone number of individual named
in 2.
- List
the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of all
endorsers. Fax numbers and e-mail addresses are
very desirable. The IEEE membership number for the
IEEE employee and the Section chair are required.
Each nomination must be accompanied by a letter
of endorsement from an IEEE member employed by the
organization and from the Section chair in whose
geographic area the organization is located. These
letters of endorsement must be from someone other
than the nominator. The letters should emphasize
the organization's contributions to continuing education
or professional development, not technical competence
or expertise.
- Nominator's
suggested citation which will appear on the award
and in publicity releases. Be concise, but ensure
that the citation reflects the award criteria and
the organization's specific contributions. The example
given may be used if nominator desires. The Award
Committee reserves the right to edit the citation
for conciseness and clarity.
- Nominator's
name, IEEE membership number and grade, address,
residence and business telephone numbers, e-mail
address, current IEEE position, and position in
the organization being nominated.
- State
why the organization is worthy of this recognition.
- Describe
the Specific contributions which qualify the organization
for this award.
- Explain
why this organization's contributions should be
viewed as being particularly outstanding as compared
with other organizations employing technical people.
- Provide
additional details and supporting evidence and documentation
which emphasize the quality, comprehensiveness,
innovation, or impact of the organization's contributions.
- The
nominator must sign and date the nomination form
and mail it to the Region 3 Educational Activities
Awards Chair.
