The Louisville Section had a successful year in 1997. The section sponsored
technical, administrative, and social meetings in an effort to bring together
the IEEE members in the surronding area. In addition, the Louisville Section
presented awards to outstanding electrical engineering students, provided
financial support to the University of Louisville IEEE Student Branch, and
provided judges for local and regional science fairs. The annual summer picnic
was well attended, and gave members an opportunity to renew old acquaintances.
The December Dinner Meeting and Election featured State Representative Kevin
Bratcher as speaker. He discussed what the state government is doing locally,
as well as across the state.

The upcoming year, 1998, is full of promising events, such as an Antique Radio
Show, a day at the baseball park, a tour of the Louisville Gas & Electric
Company's power brokering center, and other technical presentations. We are
hoping to add another Student Branch at the ITT Technical Institute and a
Chapter of the Power Engineering Society.
