This report will provide information for those who are interested in
the news of the IEEE Nashville Section and for Orlando meeting April
24-26, 1998.
The Section started the year with officer installation in September.

Zein-Sabatto as Vice Chairman, Gary Finney, P.E. as Secretary/Treasurer
and Rick Muller as Program Director.
Meetings were held September through January and during March and April
with many interesting topics covered. Special meetings of note were the
Fuel Cell Technology Seminar held in March and the April meeting
sponsored by and held at the Tennessee Tech University campus in
Cookeville. The Fuel Cell seminar was cosponsored by the Nashville
Section and TVA. It provided up to date information on the progress of
fuel cell technology and was attended by pproximately 100 people. The
Tennessee Valley Authority provided leadership and support to make this
event happen along with direction by the Nashville Section. Revenues
generated by this meeting were received by the Section with most
expenses covered by TVA.
The Nashville Section has been working diligently to prepare for
SouthEastcon 2000 which will be held in Nashville. A variety of
committees are in place and work has begun with the many details to
accommodate this event. Leadership for this effort is being shared by
Section members at Vanderbilt University, Tennessee State University,
and Tennessee Technological University as well as members from industry
and commercial groups.
An upcoming meeting in May 1998 will focus on the preparations for
SouthEastcon 2000 and prepare the membership for the many needs which
will be presented.
