Subject:    Area 9 Winter Report

The Jamaica Section continues to be very vibrant and dynamic. However,
there have been difficulties along the way, but still we have managed to
achieve some success. They are as follows:

1. Regular monthly Section and Executive Committee meetings throughout the
   year
2. Leadership Training Workshop, in Kingston, Jamaica
3. Increase Life, Life Senior and Senior membership
4. Hosting Public Forum on Telecommunications Deregulation in Jamaica
5. Registration of Communication Society Chapter
6. Visit Founding Member
7. Visit to Student Chapter, to stimulate interest
8. Constant effort to get delinquent members to pay and recruit new ones

Objectives for the year 1999:

1. Market and commence registration for JamCon 2000 at SEC ^Ñ99
2. Solicit the presence of Jamaica Tourist Board and Air Jamaica for SEC'99
   - Lexington
3. Launching of Power Engineering and Computer Society Chapters
4. Increase membership and encourage application for Senior membership
5. Establish a web site
6. To host two public fora on issues relating to electro-technology</pre>
