Conference Committee Report

January 30, 1999 — Birmingham, AL

(Jim Howard, Chair)

Southeastcon '99

Southeastcon '99 will be held at the Lexington, Kentucky, Hyatt Hotel on Thursday through Sunday, March 25 through 29. The hosts for this conference are the Lexington Kentucky Section and the University of Kentucky Student Branch. The conference will follow the model of placing all three components (Region 3 meetings, technical conference, and the student conference), in parallel.

Southcon '99

Southcon/99 will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday, April 13, 1999 through Thursday, April 15, 1999 at the Gwinnett Convention Center. For the first time ever, the show will be co-locating with the SMTA (Surface Mount Technology Association) Atlanta Chapter. This is the Southeast's largest Electro-Technology show and is normally held once a year in Region 3. The sponsors, IEEE Region 3, IEEE Florida Council, and the Electronic Representatives Association (ERA) are planning a special event for this shows return to Atlanta, so be sure to plan to attend and support the show.

Southeastcon '00

George Cook, the SEC/00 General Chair and his committee are working toward finalizing the contract with the hotel.

Southcon '00

The Southcon Board of Directors are currently working to hold this conference in Raleigh. They were not able to contract with the Sheraton Hotel, which was the first choice location, but have been working with the fair grounds near RTP.

Jamcon '00

The current plans are to hold the next Jamcon during 2000. We will have more information as we get closer to the dates.

Future Southeastcon's

We are actively looking for Sections who would like to host future Southeastcons. If you would like more information about hosting this conference, please contact myself or one of the members of the R3 Conference Committee.

R3 Conference Manual

The draft copy of the Region 3 Conference Manual has been distributed to the Southeastcon chairs. We still have to finalize the document, which we will be working toward over the next few months.
